Summer Listening Challenge

Summer Listening Challenge Turns Up the Volume on Screen-Free Summer Fun!

BY JODI MURPHY

If you’re looking for a way to keep your kids entertained, learning, and off screens during school break, check out the Summer Listening Challenge—a free program from 8 standout kids podcasts.

Created in the spirit of library summer reading programs, the challenge includes shows that parents trust and kids love: What If World, Koala Shine, Stoopkid Stories, Girl Tales, Dorktales Storytime, Culture Kids, By Kids For Kids, and The Weekly Roar by The Ten News.

Parents love kids podcasts because they’re a win-win—boosting literacy and learning while offering safe, screen-free entertainment. They’re also a great way to nurture important values like kindness, empathy, and curiosity, all while keeping kids engaged with stories they’ll want to hear again and again.

How the Challenge Works

Kids are invited to listen to two episodes from each of the eight featured podcasts, for a total of 16 engaging, screen-free stories and adventures.

As they listen, they can track their progress using a fun, downloadable tracker designed just for the challenge. Everyone who participates will receive a certificate of achievement, and those who complete all 16 episodes by August 15 will be rewarded with exclusive congratulatory videos from all eight podcast hosts—cheering them on for a job well done.
